Clare Valley Film Festival

Motivation Statement: The Clare Valley Film Festival aims to inspire and educate young people from South Australia’s regional areas in the art of filmmaking.

The true identity of Australia is defined by her landscape and what better way to experience her stories than at this extraordinary festival location in the Mid North Region. This inclusive festival aims to break down the perceptions that filmmaking is difficult and costly. Just this year a zombie movie by director Marc Pricehas was selected for the Cannes Film Festival, which only cost $102 to make! CVFF2010’s focus is to arm Australians with the knowledge and skills to tell their stories through film.

Clare Valley Film Festival is an initiative of Blyth Regional Cinema Inc. and MashMosh Films. Blyth Regional Cinema Inc. is a Non-profit Incorporated Association, which Clare Valley Film Festival operates under.

The Blyth Cinema was established in May 2005 in Blyth by a local community group to bring a city quality cinematic experience to residents and visitors of the Clare Valley region and beyond (target population 8,000).

In its first four years of screenings over 23,000 people have visited the cinema, which is manned by approximately 30 volunteers on a roster system.

In 2008, the Cinema was named the Westpac Community Idol 2008. From hundreds of entrants Australia wide the Cinema was selected in the final three. The Cinema Chair, Ian Roberts, travelled to the ‘Communities in Control’ conference in Melbourne and presented a 10 minute talk and slide show in front of 1500 delegates to tell the Cinema’s story. After voting by the delegates, the Cinema was announced as the 2008 Idol winner.

MashMosh Films is a creative film production house delivering cutting edge, content rich films. Since being established in 2004 as a short film collective by Seeta Indrani and Chris Bishop, they have been commissioned by Sony Entertainment Television Asia, screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner and shortlisted for the Tongues on Fire Film Festival competition.
