INT. CAR. DAY

KYLIE, a reasonably attractive woman in her mid-twenties to early thirties, is seating in the driver's seat.  She is re-touching her lipstick, presses her lips together and checks the result in the rearview mirror.  She wears what looks like a business-styled jacket over a top that highlights the fullness of her breasts.  She wears her blonde hair just below shoulder length.

Kylie opens the gloves box and retrieves a small handgun.  She places the handgun in her handbag.

She flicks open a black briefcase that's sitting on the passenger seat.  Inside the briefcase are various documents, including a brochure with a photocopier on the cover and the tradename 'COPYCAT COPIERS' and model 'C250'.

Kylie takes a name tag from the briefcase and attaches it to her breastpocket.  The tag reads also reads 'COPYCAT COPIERS'.

She shuts the briefcase and gets out of the car.

EXT. CAR. DAY

KYLIE comes out of the car -- we can now see that she's wearing a very short black skirt and high heels.  She's clearly some type of salesperson who likes to use the power of her sexuality.

The area looks like a large industrial complex in surburbia with lots of small businesses.

Kylie straightens her skirt and walks purposefuly away from the car and towards the entrance of a single-storey office building.

INT. OFFICE. DAY

PETER, mid-fifties, Australian looking, is sitting at his desk going over some paperwork.  The office is reasonably large with the usual filing cabinet, watercooler, artificial plants and cliched prints on the walls.

A KNOCK on the door.

Peter looks up.  He can see the silouette of a woman, KYLIE, through the smoked glass panel of the door.  Without waiting for a reply, KYLIES opens the door.

Peter checks Kylie from head to toe.  He notices the briefcase.

PETER
May I help you?

KYLIE
Are you the manager?

A beat.

Peter just stares at Kylie.  It looks as if he is thinking about committing a cardinal sin.

Finally, he smiles.

PETER
I'm sorry, but whatever it is that you're selling, I'm not interested.

Kylie steps forward.

KYLIE
I'm not selling anything.  And I'm sure you'll be interested in what I have to show you.

Kylie straightens her jacket and pushes her chest forward.  She purposely assumes a position of seductivness.

Peter shuffles some papers on his desk.

PETER
I run a small business and I don't have time for hawkers.  Didn't you see the sign on the door?

Kylie places the briefcase on the floor and walks up to the desk.  She leans over so that her chest is at eye level with Peter.

KYLIE
I assure you I won't take much of your time.

Peter stares at the breasts for a few seconds and reads the tradename COPYCAT COPIERS on the name tag.  He then looks up to meet Kylie's eyes.

PETER
You're going to try to sell me a photocopier, aren't you?

KYLIE
I'm not here to sell you anything.  Give me five minutes of your time, and if you don't like what you see, I'm out of here.

PETER
Five minutes?

KYLIE
Five minutes.

PETER
Not a minute more?

KYLIE
Not a minute more -- promise.

Peter stands from his chair and walks around the desk.  He walks behind Kylie and shuts the door of the office.

Peter turns back to Kylie.

PETER
All right, you've got my attention.

Peter walks towards another door attached to the office and opens it.

PETER (CONT'D)
Why don't we step into the conference room.  It will be a little more comfortable.

Kylie smiles.  She grabs her briefcase from the floor.

KYLIE
I like being comfortable.

PETER
I bet you do.

Kylie follows Peter from the office to the conference room.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM. DAY

The conference room is small, and the table wouldn't be able to accomodate more than six people.  There a coffee machine in one corner of the room.  There is an old photocopier next to the coffee machine that looks as it has had it.

Peter pulls a chair from the table.

PETER
Please, take a seat.

Kylie walks to the chair and sits.

Peter walks to the coffee machine.  He pours himself a coffee from a heated coffee pot.

PETER (CONT'D)
Can I get you anything?

KYLIE
Just your attention.

Peter brings his coffee to the table.

PETER
You've got my full attention.

He takes a seat.

Kylie places the briefcase on the table and opens it.  She removes the brochure that reads COPYCAT COPIERS with a nice picture of a brand new, state-of-the-art photocopier model C250

PETER (CONT'D)
I thought you were not going to sell me anything?

KYLIE
I'm not.

Kylies turns to the photocopier next to the coffee machine.

KYLIE (CONT'D)
How old is the copier you're using?

Peter looks as if he's thinking.

PETER
Ten years...twelve years -- I'm not sure.

KYLIE
And how does it perform?

She locks her eyes with Peter.

PETER
It does the job.  This is a small outfit -- we don't run that many copies.

KYLIE
And you never have any problems with it?

PETER
It jams now and then...look I think you've wasted enough of my time -- even if I needed a new copier, I wouldn't be able to afford one.

KYLIE
How would you like a brand new copier for free?

Peter smiles.

PETER
You must think I'm an idiot -- there's nothing free in this world.

Kylie bats her eye lids.

KYLIE
(seductively)
Oh, believe me, there are free things in this world.

PETER
I would appreciate it if you would get to the point.

Kylie hands over Peter a business card.

KYLIE
I'm Sussan Taylor, and I represent Copycat Copiers.

Peter takes the business card and studies it.

PETER
Never heard of Copycat Copiers.

KYLIE
We've been working with electronics and computers for a very long time.  We've only moved into the copier market.

Peter checks his watch.

PETER
You've got three minutes to wrap this up.

Kylie places the brochure of the photocopier in front of Peter and unfolds it.  Inside the brochure, there are several pictures of the photocopier, charts and a variety of statistics.

KYLIE
You're looking at the future of photocopying - full colour, duplex, double-sided, self-stapelling and a 250-gig hardrive to store everything you'll ever photocopy for trouble-free reprints.

PETER
(annoyed)
But I told you I wasn't interested in buying a copier.

KYLIE
I'm not asking you to buy it -- I'm giving you this photocopier for free.

Peter smiles.

PETER
All right, what's the catch?

KYLIE
The catch is that you can only have it for a year.

Peter looks at Kylie, and then at the brochure.

PETER
It looks like a sophisticated piece of hardware.  Why would you want to give it to me for free?

KYLIE
It's a promotion.

PETER
A promotion?

KYLIE
You use it for twelve months, evaluate it, and in exchange you let us use your name and photo for advertising.

PETER
Advertising? I don't know...

KYLIE
We're launching the copier next year, and we'd like to start a campaign that shows customer satisfaction.

Peter stands from his chair, his coffee in hand.

PETER
Sorry, not interested -- I'm not keen on seeing my face on billboards.

Kylie seems surprised.

KYLIE
It's a free product -- you'd be crazy to miss out.

PETER
Then I'm crazy.

Peter takes a sip from his coffee.

PETER (CONT'D)
You better leave now.

Kylie stands from her chair.  She gets close to Peter.

KYLIE
I think you're making a mistake.

PETER
I'm not making a mistake.  I would appreciate if you --

KYLIE
-- I can throw a little bonus...if you know what I mean.

Kylie is very close to Peter now, her lips almost touching his.  She places one hand on his buttock.

Peter seems a little stunted and steps back.

PETER
I'm sorry, but...

Accidentaly, he tips his coffee over Kylie's jacket and top.

Kylie steps back, surprised.  She wipes the stain with her hand.

KYLIE
That's an expensive jacket!

PETER
I'm so sorry...

There's a large stain remaining on Kylie's jacket.

Peter grabs some paper napkins from the coffee machine and tries to wipe off the stain, and in the process he fingerbrushes her breasts.

Kylie takes the napkins from him.

KYLIE
It's all right -- I think I can manage.

PETER
(embarrassed)
There's a washroom just outside the office -- let me show you.

Peter walks in front of Kylie.

Kylie grabs her handbag and follows Peter out of the room.

INT. OFFICE. DAY

PETER and KYLIE enter the office.

PETER
The washroom is just down the hallway.  I think it's best if you leave as soon as you're done.

Peter opens the office door.

Kylie looks a little annoyed but forces a smile.

KYLIE
I'll come back to pick up my things.

Peter shuts the door behind her.

When he's sure that she's gone, he races to his desk and takes a seat.  Hurringly, he runs through his business card holder and pulls out a card.  The card reads 'Detective Alex SANDFORD, Fraud Squad' and has a contact number.

Peter picks up the telephone receiver and punches the number.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Sandord.

PETER
I think I got one.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Who's this?

PETER
Peter from Clayton's Graphics just down the road -- I think I've got one.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Is she still there?

PETER
In the washroom.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Okay -- make sure you don't let her go until I get here.

PETER
How long is this going to take?

SANDFORD (O.S.)
I'm on my way now -- please, don't let her go.

PETER
I'll try my best.

Peter is just about to hang up.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Oh, and one more thing -- be careful, she's probably armed and dangerous.

INT. WASHROOM. DAY

KYLIE's jacket is on the bench.  She is drying her top under the hand air dryer.  She's only wearing a bra and her small skirt.  She looks annoyed.

Without warning the washroom door is pushed opened, and PETER walks in.

Kylie turns to Peter.  She seems a little surprised that he's here.

The hand dryer turns itself off.

PETER
(embarrassed)
I've been thinking about your offer.

KYLIE
And?

PETER
I'm interested.

Kylie smiles.

KYLIE
Interested?  Really?

PETER
My copier keeps jamming and finances are tight -- I could do with a free copier for a year.

KYLIE
You're doing the right thing.

Peter is checking out Kylie -- there's lust in his eyes.  He checks his watch and then turns his attention back to Kylie.

PETER
You want me to give you a hand with this?

Kylie winks.

KYLIE
I think I can manage.

Peter steps forward.

PETER
I'm good with stains.

He's now really close to Kylie.

KYLIE
I can manage -- thank you.

Peter takes a step back.

PETER
I'll get back to the office then.

KYLIE
See you in a tick.

Peter leaves the room

KYLIE (CONT'D)
Arsehole.

She puts her top and her jacket on.  She checks her handbag and pulls out the handgun.  She checks the safety switch and places the handgun back inside the bag.  She re-applies some lipstick, takes her handbag and leaves the room.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM. DAY

PETER is studying the brochure.

KYLIE walks in.

PETER
I'm really sorry about the coffee.

KYLIE
Nothing to be sorry about -- it was an accident.

PETER
(awckwardly)
An accident...that it was.

Kylie walks to where Peter is and takes a seat next to him.

KYLIE
You've had time to read all the technical details?

Peter nods.

PETER
You're right -- it's an impressive machine.  When can I have it delivered?

KYLIE
Deliveries are on Fridays.

PETER
Friday sounds good.

Kylie turns to her briefcase and pulls some printed sheets.

KYLIE
Let's fill in the forms, and I'll be on my way.

Peter takes a business card from his pocket and passes it on to Kylie.

PETER
All my details are on there.

KYLIE
Thank you...
(reads the card)
Peter...you don't mind if I call you Peter?

PETER
You can call me anything you want.

Kylie forces a smile.  She takes the card and begins the fill up a form from the information she's got in front of her.

KYLIE
Now, you do understand that if you have any problems whatsoever with the machine, a Copycat Copier technician will come and fix it for free?

PETER
For Free?  Sounds good, sounds good.

KYLIE
You also get free toner and ten reams of paper.

PETER
(nervous)
Paper is always good.

Peter checks his watch and looks towards the entrance of the conference room.

Suddenly, Kylie stops writing.

KYLIE
Oh, silly me, almost forgot.

PETER
Forgot what?

KYLIE
It's just a formality.  I need a one hundred-dollar insurance deposit.

PETER
A deposit for what?  I thought the copier was free?

KYLIE
It is free -- it's for the insurance policy, you know in case you damage the machine, we've got a hundred-dollar excess --

PETER
You said the copier was free?

KYLIE
It is free -- but this is a $60,000 machine, so you must understand...

Peter looks uncomfortable.

PETER
Let me get the money from next door.

KYLIE
Sure -- you go and do that while I finish with the forms.

Peter stands from the chair and leaves the conference room.

INT. OFFICE. DAY

PETER steps behind his desk and picks up the phone.  He presses the redial button.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Sandford.

PETER
Where are you?  You said you were going to be here straight away!

SANDFORD (O.S.)
I got held up -- I'm on my way.

PETER
Hurry up 'cause we're done here.

SANDFORD (O.S.)
Make sure she doesn't go anywhere -- do whatever you have to do to keep her in your office.

Peter hangs up.

PETER
Damn!

Peter removes his cheque book from his drawer and goes back to the conference room.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM. DAY

PETER walks in the room.

KYLIE is filling the bottom end of the form.

KYLIE
All done.

Peter takes back his seat.

Kylie slides the form towards Peter.

KYLIE (CONT'D)
Just sign at the bottom, and I'll be gone.

Peter takes the document and begins to read it.

KYLIE (CONT'D)
It's straight forward -- all I need is your signature.

Peter reluctantly signs the document.  He then opens the cheque book.

PETER
Who do I make the cheque to?

KYLIE
You know what, why don't make it cash?

PETER
Cash?

KYLIE
If you give me a cheque, we'll have to wait for processing, and you won't get the copier for another two weeks.

Peter puts his pen down.

PETER
And your company authorises cash transactions?

KYLIE
Not really -- but you told me you're copier is malfunctioning, so I'm doing you a favour.

PETER
A favour?  I'm giving you a hundred dollars cash --

Kylie reaches into her briefcase.

KYLIE
I tell you what -- I write you a cheque for one hundred dollars and you give me the cash.  I'm sure you won't damage the copier, so this way it's just formalities.

Peter stares at Kylie for a few seconds.

PETER
Okay...let me get my wallet.

Peter stands from his chair and leaves the room.

INT. OFFICE. DAY

PETER goes up the desk and from his drawer he removes a wallet.  He opens it.  There's an inch thick of fifty- and hundred-dollar notes. And retrieves a one-hundred- dollar note.  He checks his watch.

He walks up to the front door of the office and opens it.  He leans forward and checks if anyone is coming down the hallway.  Annoyed, he closes the door and returns to the conference room.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM. DAY

PETER walks into the room.

KYLIE stands up from her chair.  She has already packed her briefcase and documents.  She hands over to Peter a cheque and a receipt.

KYLIE
Here's a cheque for one hundred dollars to your name and a receipt.

She forces a smile.

Peter retrieves the one hundred dollars from his pocket.

PETER
And here's the one hundred dollars cash.

Kylie takes the money and places it in her bag.

She walks towards the door.

Panicking, Peter blocks her way.

PETER (CONT'D)
What about that little bonus you mentioned earlier on?

Kylie looks a little alarmed.

KYLIE
Bonus?

PETER
You know, the little bonus to help me make up my mind?

Kylie smiles.

KYLIE
Well, yes, but that...

Peter walks up the Kylie and presses himself against her.

PETER
You haven't changed your mind now, have you?

KYLIE
Changed my mind?

PETER
We had a deal, didn't we?

KYLIE
But you've already signed the contract--

Peter places his hands on both sides of Kylie's hips.

PETER
You wouldn't be trying to short change me, would you?

Kylie tries to resist.

Peter pushes his body weight against her and forces her against the wall.

PETER (CONT'D)
You don't think I just gave you one hundred dollars cash for nothing?

KYLIE
I'm sorry -- I think you misunderstood my intentions.

PETER
Oh, we both know what your intentions were.

Peter presses his lips against hers.  He moves back and unbuttons her jacket.

KYLIE
You're really sweet, but I've got other customers to see.

PETER
Five minutes of your time, that's all I need -- I gave you five minutes of my time, surely you can give me five minutes of your time in return?

Peter pushes her hair to the side and kisses the side of her neck.

Kylie reaches for her gun inside the handbag.  She pulls the gun out and aims it against Peter's temple.

KYLIE
One more move and I blow your head off!

Peter steps back.

PETER
Wow!  Hold on a sec!

KYLIE
It's loaded so don't try anything -- now, move to the side.

Peter moves to the side.

Kylie grabs her briefcase from the floor and walks past Peter.  She keeps the gun aimed at his head.

KYLIE (CONT'D)
You stay in this room -- you follow me, I will shoot you.

PETER
All right, all right, just take it easy.

Peter has his hands palms up to show he's not going to try anything.

Kylie walks out of the room and closes the door behind her.

KYLIE (O.S.)
I'll shoot you if you come after me.

PETER
Damn!

INT. OFFICE. DAY

KYLIE, still gun in hand, walks up to Peter's desk.  She goes around to where Peter was sitting.  She opens the drawer and looks for anything.

She find Peter's wallet.  She places the wallet in her handbag without checking the content.

PETER (O.S.)
You're not going to get away with this.

KYLIE
Just shut up and stay where you are.

Kylie leaves the drawer open and aims for the exit door.

She opens the door, steps outsides, and closes the door.

PETER comes out of the conference room two seconds later.  He notices the drawer of his desk is wide open.

PETER
Bitch!

He kicks the table.

He moves to the front door of the office.  Before he gets to it, the door is pushed opened and Kylie walks in, a solem expression on her face.

Peter is surprised to see her back.

PETER (CONT'D)
Did you forget something?

Kylie steps into the room

Detective Sanford comes behind her, his gun in hand.

SANDFORD
Got her just when she was about to exit the building -- sorry it took so long.

PETER
She took my wallet.
(to Kylie)
Give me my wallet back.

Reluctantly, Kylie fishes inside her bag and retrives Peter's wallet.  She hands it over to him.  He snatches it.

PETER (CONT'D)
And the hundred dollars I gave you.

Kylie fishes into her bag again and pulls out the one hundred dollars.  She hands them over to Peter.

KYLIE
How did you know?

SANDFORD
You don't have to worry about that.  You've been running this little scam all over town, haven't you?

Sandord handcuffs Kylie.

SANDFORD (CONT'D)
How long did you think you were going to get away with this?

Kylie locks her eyes with Peter.

KYLIE
Just tell me how you figured it out?  Was it something I said?  Was it something I did?

PETER
You were good -- call it instinct.

KYLIE
Instinct, my arse -- there's something going on here.

Kylie steps foward towards Peter.

Sandford holds her back.

SANDFORD
All right, all right -- where you're going, you'll have plenty of time to figure out what went wrong.

KYLIE
He was going to rape me -- it's him you should arrest.

SANDFORD
Come on, let's go.

Sandord pulls Kylie towards the door and sends her outside.

He turns to Peter.

SANDFORD (CONT'D)
Thanks for your help.  I've been waiting to get my hands on her for a long time.

PETER
No problem -- glad to be of service.

Sandord leaves with Kylie, and Peter closes the door of his office.  He has a look of sheer satisfaction on his face.

He goes and sits behind his desk.  He places the one hundred dollars he got back from Kylie inside his wallet thick with other notes, and places the wallet inside the drawer.

The clock on his desk reads 2.30.

INT. OFFICE. LATE AFTERNOON

The clock on the desk reads 5.45.

PETER is doing some paper work.

The SOUND OF HIGH HEELS coming down the hallway.

INT. HALLWAY. LATE AFTERNOON

We can see a pair of legs wearing high heel shoes.

We then see the WOMAN from the back.  She looks exactly like Kylie, right down to the blonde hair.

INT. OFFICE. LATE AFTERNOON

Peter looks up at the SOUND OF HIGH HEELS coming closer.

The SOUND OF HIGH HEELS stops in front of the office door.

Through the smoked glass partition of the door, we can see the silouette of a woman.

Peter doesn't look alarmed.

The door opens.

We see long legs, a short skirt, a briefcase, a jacket and a chest with the name tag 'COPYCAT COPIERS'.  We do not see a face yet.

Peter opens his drawer and grabs his wallet.

He stands from his chair and walks around the desk.

PETER
Hi, darling.

WOMAN
Hi, sweety.

PETER
How was your day?

WOMAN
It was good.

The Woman fishes into her handbag and retrieves a handful of fifty- and hundred-dollar notes.

Peter gets close to the woman.  He studies her face for a few second.  We do not see the woman's face just yet.

We can only see the back of the woman.  She is a replica of Kylie.

PETER
I missed you.

WOMAN
I missed you too.

They kiss.

The Woman pulls her head back.  She gives Peter the handful of fifties and hundreds.

Peter adds the money to what he already has in his wallet.

WOMAN (CONT'D)
How was your day?

From the back of the woman, we now move to the side to reveal a little of her face.

PETER
It was good -- it was very good.

We can now see that this is not Kylie, but another woman who looks almost indentical to Kylie.

WOMAN
Busy?

PETER
Let's just say that I got rid of some of the competition.

Face to face, they both smile at one another.

Peter than turns around and grabs his jacket.

PETER (CONT'D)
Should we go and get something to eat?  I'm starving.

WOMAN
I'm starving too.  Let's go.

Peter walks to the door and opens it.

The woman goes first.

Peter follows her and closes the door behind.

Last shot ends on the closed door with the SOUND OF BOTH FOOTSTEPS fading away down the hallway.

END.
