Open Season: The Quick and Dirty Film Festival Entries now open The Melbourne Comedy Festival presents a completely new film programme in 2008 and wants you to be a part of it. We want your original short films, animations, PowerPoint presentations, YouTube clips, filmed stand-up, whatever - if it can fit in a DVD player and it’s funny, we'll take it - and we’re going to screen the twenty best over two nights at Federation Square in Melbourne during the 2008 Festival. We’ve stripped away all the usual film festival rules and criteria so that you can enter whatever comedy material you have created and recorded in an audio-visual format. Amateurish productions and ill-conceived ambition encouraged. The twenty finalists will be screened in Open Season, an exciting part of the Festival’s new Film Programme showing at the Big Laugh Out at Federation Square on Friday 28 March and Friday 11 April. And then, like all good TV shows, we’ll repeat it, screening the films on Monday 31 March on a TV in the Peter Cook Bar at the Melbourne Town Hall. At the end of each of the Federation Square screenings, The Public Speaks, as the official Festival Clap-o-meter measures audience reaction to award top prize - the (probably) coveted Golden Betamax Award and $500 cash, as well as something special for the runners-up. Make it fast, make it funny and remember it is an all-ages screening. It’s free to enter – all you need to do is download the entry form at:
