Black Nights film festival
PRESS RELEASE - Call for entries to the inaugural Black Nights film festival Background - Film Festival
The Black Nights film festival starts on 21st October and is designed to raise the profile of black & white film as a media. To achieve this objective the event consists of two elements, namely, locally produced black & white short films followed by a classic black & white movie.
The festival is being held at the Valhalla (in Glebe, NSW).
The schedule for the 21st October is to show a selection of the b&w short films entered for the competition (estimated to be 10 - 15) and the audience and our judging panel select a winner and runner-up. The shorts are then followed by a classic black & white film (Duck Soup).
The jury is headed by Abigail Moncrieff. Abigail recently produced 2 movies for the Biennale and these are currently shown at the MCA in Sydney.
The following session in the festival (4th November) will re-show the winner and runner-up and be followed by Psycho. Subsequent sessions will depend on demand.
The main sponsor of the festival is Blavod - a black vodka.
